FMCA magazine showed up this week. But you might be temped to toss it. Don't! It's now called:
"family RVing"
There were some highlights from the international in Perry, Ga. However, they skipped our Area Vice President and her husband handing out ice cream during the Ice Cream Social. Below is a picture. Ed has the green hat.

FMCA is branching out
CINCINNATI (PRWEB) APRIL 10, 2018
Spring has sprung! RVers who have been in winter “hibernation” start to turn their attention to preparing their homes on wheels for the upcoming travel season. Members of FMCA, a Cincinnati, Ohio-based organization for RV owners, are among those making plans for spring and summer travels.
FMCA members look to the association to provide them with benefits and services that enhance their travels. A vote of the membership of this group in late 2017 has made those services and benefits available to a wider audience of RV owners.
Prior to this vote, motorhomes — motorized RVs — had been the focus of the member-owned club, which dates back to 1963.
When asked about FMCA branching out to welcome even more RV owners to its family, FMCA national president Jon Walker said, “We’re excited to be able to use the expertise and knowledge FMCA has developed over the years within the motorhome realm to now serve the needs and interests of owners of all self-contained RVs. After all, the RV lifestyle is more about people than it is about the equipment RVers have chosen for their travels.”
Benefits offered by FMCA include a tire-purchasing program; special member-only rates on roadside assistance, mobile internet plans from Verizon and Sprint, and RV insurance; a monthly magazine in print and digital formats; and the FMCAssist Medical Emergency and Travel Assistance Plan, valued at $105 per family and included in the annual dues.
The cost to join FMCA is just $60 for the first year and $50 per year thereafter. The first-year fee includes a set of membership plates to display on one’s RV. Multiyear dues discounts are available.
FMCA is unique among the major RV clubs, because it is the only one owned and governed by its membership.
To join or to learn more, visit FMCA.com or call (800) 543-3622 or (513) 474-3622.
FMCA is an international organization for families who own and enjoy the use of self-contained recreation vehicles (RVs). The association maintains its national headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently has more than 75,000 active member families. FMCA offers its members a number of benefits, including a subscription to its monthly magazine; a medical emergency and travel assistance program valued at $105 per family; a tire purchasing program; group rates on a roadside assistance program and on RV and auto insurance; and discounted rates for RV tours and caravans. Perhaps the most important benefit of FMCA membership is the camaraderie and friendships that develop among people enjoying the common interest of RV travel. The organization can be reached at (513) 474-3622 or (800) 543-3622 and on the web at FMCA.com.

Barbara Smith explains NEAR-2018
Dear Northeast Area Chapter Presidents and National Directors,
Please share this letter with your chapter members.
I am writing to update you on the latest FMCA Northeast Area happenings since the annual meeting in Syracuse. First, I would like to thank each and everyone who attended and volunteered for “We love N.Y. 2017”. I particularly want to thank the board members and volunteers who put in countless hours to make the rally a success. We had 344 camping units including FMCA members and guests. Over 100 volunteers helped with all facets of the rally. We had a couple of bad weather evenings but made the best of it. Participating RV dealers sold at least 1 motor coach and 4 other RVs.
It is with a heavy heart that we make this announcement that the Northeast Area Rally (NEAR) has been cancelled for 2018. We understand many are disappointed and it's contradictory to the Northeast Area's mission, but we will make 2019 a great rally. We heard that water and electric (sometimes sewer connection) is preferred. We heard that you want to wait before going back to Essex Junction, VT. We are evaluating several possible locations, but rally venues that are large enough to handle our numbers fill up fast for the summer season and many desirable ones are already taken. If we had chosen Syracuse again, a large building construction project was scheduled to begin next to the campground. We did have front door access issues to our major building due to construction beside and in front of the building and dates for 2018 did not work out despite our research and investigation. They also conflicted with the national convention calendar.
For 2019 several locations and rally types are possible. We could do another rally in the Syracuse location, or we could do a destination rally with more adventures but fewer seminars. We could move the rally to June or September. However, that might preclude members with school age children from coming. We would like to have the new rally location decided on by spring, so we can begin putting our chapter volunteer teams together. The board tells me that it takes over 1.5 years to plan a rally of this size.
However, we will have a 2018 annual meeting. Dates and the location will follow. Northeast Area Executive Board members are discussing our options.
If you have questions please contact me.
Sincerely,
New Tech Packages
